When you partner with me in any of the following training courses, you will learn how to teach your dog behaviors and manners by communicating clearly and concisely.
You will begin understand the language of the canine species while teaching them the language of humans. You will learn good handling skills and how to earn your dog’s respect.
Your dog will learn such behaviors as sit, down, stay, stand, wait, stay, off, settle, drop it, leave it and to relax beside you when walking on a leash. They will also learn to pay attention, to trust you and that you are the source of all good things.
I also provide support after lessons or consultations by phone or email so you will never feel alone in dealing with training or behavior issues.
Prices:
I specialize in developing training and behavior modification uniquely tailored to you and your dogs that are scheduled at your convenience.
Three 90-minute sessions in your home are $250. Six are $475. Nine are $950.
A behavioral consultation is offered for serious behavior problems such as dog-dog aggression and separation anxiety. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire and meet with me for a consultation. Follow-up sessions will be set up based on the recommended plan for behavioral modification. Please call me to discuss the cost of the initial consult and follow-up session.
Handouts and email support are included with all my services to assist you in achieving your goals.
A travel charge is added to lessons requiring me to drive more than 25 minutes from my home.
I do not offer "free" consultations since my time and expertise are valuable. Veterinarians and other pet care professionals do not either. Please be choose a trainer carefully. There are many in this area that use harsh methods and who have not embraced modern dog training methods. If you feel uncomfortable with what a trainer is doing, trust your feelings and leave. For information on how to select a trainer, visit http://www.apdt.com/petowners/choose/default.aspx.
New Puppy

The Right Start - 6 sessions. This training package is a good follow up session to the Puppy Star program. It is for puppies 4 to 7 months of age. You will learn how to teach your dog to pay attention, control their impulses, and sit, down, stay and come with distractions. They will also learn how to be comfortable being handled for an exam, nail trim and grooming as well as being separated from their owner without stress and anxiety. They will also learn “leave it” so you can steer them away from undesirable objects on the floor or ground. You will also learn how to teach your pup to walk with you on and off lead while paying attention.

A Puppy Training Starter Kit (clicker, bait bag, treats, leash) can be purchased at Pet Expertise.
All training sessions begin with a foundation in how dogs think, learn and communicate. In this 60 to 90 minute seminar called “Mind Games,” you will learn how to “speak canine.” Being able to communicate with the canine species will allow you to understand and more easily train and modify behavior.
See Resources for information on 1) the role your veterinarian plays in puppy development and how to decide when to begin training and 2) how you can begin now to socialize your puppy. Socializing your puppy is one of the most important things you can do to prevent behavior problems and ensure your dog is equipped to live comfortably in a world filled with a wide variety of people, dogs, sights, sounds and surfaces.
Puppy or Adolescent Dog
Enjoy your Walk! - 3 sessions. Walking with our dog in the neighborhood can be one of the simple pleasures in life. However, a walk may not be something you can look forward to if you have a dog that pulls or lunges on a leash. If you want to be able to enjoy your walk, take this session. A prerequisite for this session may be the R-E-S-P-E-C-T session if you do not have control over your dog in most other areas as well. Owners with a dog who are leash aggressive will need a consultation prior to signing up for this session.
Really Reliable Recall - 3 sessions. Are you afraid to let your dog off lead for fear they will not return? Learn how to teach your dog to come, reliably and happily in this session. We will work inside and outside to teach your dog this essential, life saving skill. A prerequisite for this session may be the R-E-S-P-E-C-T session if you do not have control over your dog in most other areas as well.
Adolescent and Older Dogs:
Good Manners - 6 sessions. Do you want to be able to take your dog anywhere and feel confident that he or she will be well-mannered and polite? Then this dog training 101 package is for you! You will learn how to get and keep your dog’s attention, teach them impulse control and prevent or curtail problem behavior. They will learn sit, down, stay, come and leave it.

Become an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC). This 6-session CGC session is designed to reward dogs that demonstrate good behavior in the home and community and encourage responsible pet ownership. It is one of the ways you can in lay a foundation for future training with your dog in competition obedience, performance sports or prepare for work as a therapy dog. Dogs must be six months old. The Good Manners session or equivalent is a prerequisite. This session will be taught off site, unlike most of the sessiones offered in Greenville, to give you and your dog experience working with distractions. The last night of the session the test will be given by a CGC evaluator. To learn more about the CGC award, go to http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/program.cfm.

Become a Therapy Dog - 3 sessions. The requirements to become a therapy dog are very similar to those of the CGC but dogs must be one year old to take the test. If you would like to learn about the requirements and what you need to do to become part of this rewarding work, visit http://www.therapydogs.com/.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T - 3 sessions. Aretha Franklin made a point in her song - It’s all about respect. Learn how to earn your dog’s respect and get control over an unruly dog while being respectful of them. Stop such behaviors as bolting out the door, jumping, wandering off and not coming back.
I GOT A NEW ATTITUDE - 3 sessions. Patti LaBelle’s song is the theme of this session. You and your dog will get a new attitude when you learn how to motivate your dog to do what you want without using pain or fear. It will be fun!
Tricks - 3 sessions. Would you like to teach your dog to roll over, high five, crawl, say their prayers or perform other fun tricks to entertain your friends, or those you and your dog see on therapy visits? Then this session is for you.
Consultations (PRIVATE SESSIONS ONLY)
I will work with you to solve problems through an initial one-hour consultation to determine the cause and develop a plan. An owner needs to commit to a minimum of two additional one-hour sessions to implement the plan because behavior problems can not be fixed overnight.
I offer problem solving behavior consultations on how to:
- get control of an out of control dog;
- bring a shy or fearful dog out of its shell;
- stop jumping, mouthing, destroying property;
- teach a dog to be calm and not reactive to other dogs;
- curtail guarding of food, places, people or other things of value;
- make your dogs trip to the groomer or vet enjoyable for both of you;
- teach your dog to enjoy riding in a car; and
- manage a multi-dog household.
Please contact me to discuss the specific problems you may be having with your dog if it is not mentioned here.
I also offer whole dog care consultations on ways to care for your whole dog, body, mind and spirit:
- an assessment of the physical body that may be causing barriers to training;
- diet and exercise programs; and
- ways to enrich your dog life and keep him out of trouble:)
